Bullet

Entertaining Top-40 cover band active during 1971 and 1972

History

Bullet

1971 – 1972

July, 1971: Bill Strandlof  runs into Denny Johnson at B Sharp Music store in Northeast Minneapolis and the two have a conversation about former bands they were involved with, including The Tabs, The Litter and Jokers Wild.  Since neither Denny or Bill were currently in a band, they decide to get together and have a jam session at Bill’s house, along with Robby Belleville and Bill Swanson.  The jam session goes well and a new band is started called Bullet, named by Bill Strandlof.

The line-up is: Bill Strandlof on lead guitar and vocals, Bill Swanson on rhythm guitar, keyboards and vocals, Denny Johnson on bass guitar and vocals and Robby Belleville on drums and vocals.

August, 1971 – January, 1972:  The band plays locally and through out the Midwest, including Chicago and Green Bay, booked by Marsh Productions and David Anthony Productions.  The band plays a wide variety of Top-40 cover songs including songs by Sly and the Family Stone, Neil Young, Santana, Chicago and The Buffalo Springfield.

January, 1972: Bill Strandlof leaves the band.

January, 1972 – May, 1972:  The band replaces Bill Strandlof with Chuck Edwards on lead guitar and vocals and comes up with a new name, Christopher, and continue to play through May, 1972.

May, 1972: Denny Johnson leaves the band to attend the Institute of Audio Research in New York City.  The band replaces Denny Johnson and continues to play under a new band name, Tractor.
